Mariëtte Stofberg Coetzee

(BSc Agric, Viticulture & Oenology)

Winemaker / Shareholder

The winemaker and heartbeat of Belle Rebelle. Being inspired by her grandfather she went to study BSc Agriculture Viticulture and Oenology at University of Stellenbosch. Loving to travel the world, she was privileged to worked at various cellars in South Africa, California and France. Her dream of coming back to the family farm and produce boutique wines with her father became a reality in 2012 when Stofberg Family Vineyards were established. She is very passionate about wine, the wine industry and the people that she can share this journey with.

Pieter Stofberg

(B Agric)

Farmer / Shareholder

The oldest son of PJD Stofberg (Snr.) and the inspiration to the establishment of Belle Rebelle. He grew up on the the family farm Klipdrift in Rawsonville and today live on Stofberg Family Vineyards. This journey enabled him to work alongside his oldest daughter, Mariëtte to share their passion for the vineyards and wines. He love to show off his breeding talent with his White Dorper Stud and Poultry winning numerous accolades. His true pleasures in life is his four daughters, spending time on his Karoo farm and being the Master Distiller at Belle Rebelle.

Deon Coetzee

(BSc Agric, MBA)

Shareholder

Deon is full time employed as Business Manager: Cape at UPL, but forms part of the Stofberg Family Vineyards team as an non-active member of the Closed Corporation. As shareholder he gives financial and strategic guidance to the rest of the team. His passion to change the lives of people and create a better life for all, drives him to challenge the status quo in the wine industry.

Isreal Delport

Cellar Hand

After leaving school at the age of 15, Israel Delport started out as a general farm worker to support his family. With his good attitude and willingness, he quickly become a tractor driver and then were selected to be the cellar hand at Stofberg Family Vineyards. As Stofberg Family Vineyards is a boutique winery with not much work in the off season, he kept himself busy with studying wine.

 

After two seasons in the cellar he completed Skop 1-3 and were selected out of many to represent South Africa in Burgundy, France on an exchange program. From the knowledge gained in Burgundy he made this Chardonnay under the guidance of Mariëtte Stofberg Coetzee. “A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
